Mrs Carol Lewis first started in property management whilst working for a firm
of local Chartered Accountants. This came about as a result of the Accountant
being asked whether they were prepared to manage the property as well as
preparing and auditing the accounts.
ln 1994, she decided to set up Lewis Associates and become a Managing Agent.
The company started with the few blocks of flats that, with the Accountant’s
permission, she brought with her. This was the base from which the company
has grown.
A year later, due to the growth, which was all via word of mouth, her husband
Doug joined the company. He was quickly followed by their daughter Justine
Orchard, who took on the administration duties.
On the passing of Carol, Justine became a full partner in the company
alongside her Dad.
Lewis Associates have today over 60 residential complexes under their
management together with 3 smaller housing complexes where we look after
the external communal areas only. ln addition to residential we also manage
over 40 commercial properties and have a small portfolio of private rental
properties on our books. We currently cover an area which includes South
Somerset, the Taunton area, East Devon, Weymouth and Dorchester.
As a family business we pride ourselves on our hands on approach – we are
not afraid of working unsocial hours, which we often find works to our
advantage.
